Wins shouldn't make us forget about Roethlisberger's past actions."In case you've forgotten, or would like to gloss it over lest it dampen your guacamole-and-chips plans, Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year old college student ( Read more... )

I'm annoyed by guys who think women exist only for their own pleasure, and alcohol enhances that feeling - and I'm annoyed by women who think they can go out to a bar and get plastered and then are shocked by the fact the men who have had too much to drink have impaired judgment.

So I think everyone needs to back off both Roethlisberger AND the girl and focus on the fact that there are too many people in this world who imbibe a little too much booze when "trying to have a good time". Getting rid of booze is not the answer - drinking more responsibly and thinking through your actions is the answer everyone on both sides should be striving for.

alcohol does not mean that you have an invitation to fucking rape someone.

it was not "impared judgement" and it wasn't day after regret. she went to the fucking hospital with injuries.

I can see that the right not to be raped means very little to you.

I am not surprised at the collective memory loss that a Super Bowl spot can have on a Steeler fan.

not being tried does not mean innocence. it just means that it wasn't tried.

rape is not often a convicted crime because of what we put the woman who accuses the rapist through.

no, we wouldn't have heard it if it wasn't a famous player, but it doesn't mean it wasn't serious, it just means that the asshole is famous.

and, he came at her in a locked bathroom with his penis hanging out of her pants. that's fucking rape.

if you really work at a mental health facility, you need to find a new career field. if I found out when I was undergoing therapy due to my issues from being raped that someone in that facility harbored victim blaming and disgusting opinions like yours, it would set me back immensely. do everyone a favor and work elsewhere. you're gross.

it means that Roethlisberger has embarrassed the Steelers so much that the asshole deserves to GET FIRED.

I will say that the timing really troubled me.

Roethlisberger was accused at pretty much the same time that Santonio Holmes sent him infamous "wake n bake" tweet. Holmes was traded within two weeks. Roethlisberger is still here. And which was the more heinous crime: smoking weed or committing sexual assault?

I know there were other factors, like Holmes dissing the fans (part of what got Jeff Reed fired as well), but those two events, coming so close together, were really striking to me.

Well, in this country you're innocent until proven guilty, and sitting here a thousand miles away, what chance to I have of that? I agree with the first comment; they both exercised poor judgment, but Ben wasn't even indicted, and knowing how the media and public opinion works, I'm sure you wouldn't like to have yourself judged without the benefit of due process.

My advice is let it go; it's not that people don't remember, or even that he's been 'forgiven' because we're going to the Super Bowl. It's that he wasn't indicted and we're cautiously watching for evidence that he's turned his life around.

I'm tired of the "it's just as much her fault as it is his" line ( ... )

Oh, I agree with you; my point is that in this case, we can't be sure of the facts, and believe me, if they'd been sure of the facts, there'd have been an indictment. Since there wasn't, we're into conjecture and judgment without indisputable fact.

That's it for me. Now I remember why I don't usually comment.
