recommend an inexpensive extended-stay hotel?

We will be moving this coming summer, and our current lease ends about three weeks before we'll be leaving town. Extending our lease is not an option with our landlord, who wants to get incoming students. So, I'm hunting for a reasonable deal on an extended stay hotel in the Pittsburgh area. Thus far the best location and price I've found is ( Read more... )

There is an Extended Stay Suites off of the Rosslyn Farms Parkway West exit. Not sure what the prices are, though.

The closest, and coincidentally the cheapest, Extended Stay America location I've found is in Carnegie and their lowest price (with "weekly discount applied" and AAA) is $60/day, which works out to being almost double the cost of the InTown Suites.

That's the one I was thinking of. Never mind then.

Is the place you mentioned on McKnight?

Yeah exactly, it's on McKnight a little ways up from I-279.

There is a couple of Residence Inns by Marriot in the area - North Shore and Oakland. I'm sure they are not inexpensive, but may be more convenient! :)

Thanks, that's a useful cross-marketing portal page...but all the options it lists appear to be much more expensive. The Residence by Marriot places are definitely "upscale" as they say, running over $600/week. I'd like to keep the hotel budget cheap, and just use the savings to enjoy ourselves more once we get out on the road for the left coast.

Our plans are not 100% solid yet, but it's most likely to be something like 6/15 through 7/5.

Is that the hotel that's next to the porn store with the giant neon video cassette on the wall? Isn't there some sort of church on the other side? I always found that combo -- church + porn store + hotel -- interesting.

It's next to...a big parking lot, a Hampton Inn, and a hill, from what I can tell.

It is!

The hotel is at 4595 McKnight Road, and Adult Merchandise Mart is at 4611 McKnight Road.

When you're driving down McKnight Road from the north, toward the city, you can't miss it -- the entire side of the building is a giant neon videocassette. It always cracks me up, because who has a VCR anymore? And I'm sure those guys spent a fortune on that thing, which was probably super cool and trendy ... about a decade ago.
