So where would you go if you needed to take a shower? (Swissvale.)

So our landlord is planning to turn our water off for two days to do some work on our plumbing...

And I need a place to shower!

So what would you do?

I'm like, I could get a day pass at a gym and take a shower when I'm done...but I'm not even familiar with gyms in the area.

Any ideas?

services: plumbing, places: swissvale

How well do you know your neighbours? In the past when I've had water shut-offs for maintenance work, I've either gone over to friends' houses in other parts of town, or one time I went over to my neighbour's house (when I was living in Regent Square) and the lovely elderly woman who lived there was more than happy to let me use hers. Sure, it was a little awkward, but it was better than being stinky.

I live in a complex and they're shutting off the water for everyone :/

And most of my friends live with their families...and I don't know their families so it would be really weird.

If you know anyone who is a student at Pitt I believe you can still take a guest into the Bellfield gym. Another option might be the YWCA/YMCA.

Your landlord should be putting you up in a hotel, to be honest.

I know. I feel like they should make arrangements. I might even call and be like, "What the hell?"

They aren't even doing necessary repairs, just updates.

What do you mean updates? I thought only Windows required regular updates to function properly....

Apparently they want to install more water efficient shower heads and toilets and water heaters and stuff like that.

Which is great except for the part where l'm like...you mean I'm not going to have a toilet when I wake up in the morning?

Re: The gym idea

I know some places at least used to give free trial memberships. I know I got a free week-long pass to Bally's once upon a time. Maybe they still do that? If not, maybe other big national chains do?

Also, any chance you bought a city of Pittsburgh pool pass last summer? If so, then it's still good until June, which means you could use it to shower (and swim!) at the Oliver Bath House on the South Side.

Actually, thinking about it, even if you didn't buy a pool pass, the one time daily admission is about $4. The South Side is a bit of a schlep from Swissvale, but for $4 a day, it's a shower.
