Happy New Year, all!

Do any of you know where I can buy a region-free DVD player? Best Buy and Target aren't allowed to sell them, apparently, and I don't want to wait a week for something from Amazon when my one free weekend is happening now.

Thanks!

Depending on the model of DVD player that you have, you can probably find a code to unlock the region. I did that for a DVD player that my parents bought at Best Buy and it worked pretty well.

My DVD player is unfortunately deader than a doornail, so I'm looking for a whole new player no matter what. :(

Ah, ok then. Well, it's possible to do the same with a relatively cheap DVD player from Best Buy as well, but if you are buying a new one, might be just as well to buy the region free one.

I was actually just talking about region free DVD players with a few friends earlier today... I got one of these Philips DVP5992 at Costco a few months ago. I think they still sell them. You can make them region free by pressing Setup, select the Preference Tab, type 1,3,8,9,3,1 on the numbers and then press the up key to select region 0. Hit menu to exit and then ... it's region free. I've tested it in that I can go through those options, but I don't have a DVD of another region to use to test it to make sure it worked. Anyway, if you have a Costco membership, see if they still sell those. I think they do.
