for asian i really like orient express on forbes. Tamarind (indian) on N Craig (a couple blocks north of fifth) has a really good vegetarian menu!

I don't know of too many tea shops, but theres a tea cafe in Squirrel Hill on Murray, about 3 blocks south of Forbes. Squirrel Hill is also a great area to find lots of asian food! Many options (thai, japanese, sushi, filipino, chinese, vietnamese) right on Murray and Forbes area.

Highly recommend Spice Island Tea House in Oakland. It would be a pretty short walk from where you are staying (I'd say less than 10 minutes from there), and it is quite delicious!

Crazy Mocha is a good local coffeehouse chain to hit up right in Oakland as well -- hot beverages and WiFi galore! (Not much on their website besides the addresses of their locations, though)

My favorite pierogies are probably at the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern in Bloomfield (neighborhood bordering Oakland). It's best described as a dive bar, but the food (at least the pierogies) is really good! It would definitely be longer than a 20 minute walk, but if you're feeling adventurous you could hop on the 54C bus (runs right to it).

Sorry... another posting :)
You might also want to head over to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh some day.. it's actually quite nice. There's a coffee shop (actually a Crazy Mocha location) right inside as well.

According to this, they have free wifi, but I have no experience with using it. I'm not sure if you'd need a library account to log into it or anything.

You do need to have a card from one of the Access Pennsylvania system libraries to access the library wifi. I'm not sure if the Crazy Mocha in the Oakland branch is running their own free wifi, which would be public use, or not.

The starbucks in oakland has free wifi, so does caribu coffee, from what I can remember. The park does too, but it's too cold to be out there.

Starbucks' wi-fi isn't free. It's quite pricy, actually.

Really? I'm pretty sure I've used it for free there before... Oh well, I guess I'm wrong.

I think many of the UPMC facilities have free wifi in their waiting rooms now too.

The Red Oak Cafe on Forbes I think has Wifi as well. If they don't it's got amazing, mostly organic and lots of veggie food. It is deli style with sandwiches and drinks. Awesome food.

You might want to check out the City Paper (http://www.pittsburghcitypaper.ws/gyrobase/index) for ideas. I find their reviews very helpful and the site is easy to navigate.
