jars and things to put in them

I've checked freecycle, but figured I'd mention this to you lovely folk as well.

If you or your family have any unused or unwanted canning jars and their accessories (lids in particular) I will gladly come retrieve them from you. As a thank-you I will return a few jars to you at a later date full of tasty goodness, should you wish it. Jars needn't be cleaned- I can take care of that myself. I can also safely dispose of old home-canned product should you have recently encountered grandma's old canning pantry or the like.

Also, if you should find yourself with a surplus of garden produce (beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, garlic, etc), I'd love to come gather them up to put into jars in various forms. I'm also hoping to make quite a lot of applesauce, quince jelly, and assorted jams once the requisite fruits are in season, so I'd love to know if any of you have unsprayed trees/bushes on your property that I can pick from. I'll trade your unattractive or critter-nibbled fruit (I'll be cutting up and inspecting everything for buggies before cooking) for jars of honest-to-goodness grandma-style preserves.

I know it's still a bit early in the season, but I figure it's better to let folk know now rather than later. Just think- if you have a fruiting tree I'll come pick your fruit before it falls to the ground where you have to clean it up!
