Driving Lessons

Call me pathetic if you will. I'm 22 and still have no idea how to drive. Despite the fact that I have no good reason to be, I am pretty terrified of driving. But I've accepted the fact that I have to learn how to do it eventually and now I need some lessons ( Read more... )

I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to say that I'm 21 and in the same situation, although I'd say I'm more mildly apprehensive about driving than terrified by it.

I'm 29 and I was also looking to learn to drive this summer, so don't feel bad about your late start. Glad you brought this up. Looking forward to see what suggestions you get.

This might sound like terrible advice, but especially if you're apprehensive about learning to drive, find a go-kart place and plunk down enough money for a few go-rounds.

Cars are go karts with better brakes. But the concepts translate surprisingly well.

I'm 21 and I just got my license last week (not terrified of driving, just of test-taking!). I took lessons through Kennedy School of Driving, they were really terrific and patient and they'll even take you for the test. I have the card in my wallet still and here's the number:

Jerry Mancini
412 771 5550

If I remember correctly (this was a few years ago) the lessons were around $50 each but well worth it. Good luck!

(31 and just learned to drive last year.)

I used Jerry Mancini too, and I passed ;-) He's a little bit weird --- he's always got sports talk radio on, and will tell you lots of funny/horrifying stories about his other students (which makes you wonder what he's telling them about you). But the price is reasonable and the instruction is good.

I also used Jerry amd reccommend him. He did use the word "flavorific" alot. It drove me bonkers.

PS I had you all beat, I was 33 when I got my license. Looks like Jerry specializes in older students.

I waited 'til I was 20 (yay PAT!). I had never driven a day in my life and decided to take the driving course at CCAC. It's three days and was very informative. I took the course, practiced like twice with my folks and passed with flying colors the next week. :) Might be a bit pricey though, not sure:
Click Here, do a search on 'Driver' and you'll get the prices.
Good luck! :)
