Aha! Someone ELSE had HBO in the early eighties! (At least, that's why I know that Midnight Madness exists. I must have watched it 50 times the summer of 1984. I was ten, which explains a lot.)

When I was a kid, "cable" in my town was two channels: HBO, and ESPN, but you needed it if you wanted anything remotely resembling good reception. It wasn't until 1987 that we got the "usual" basic cable channels. I attempted to make up for years of lost MTV intake at that time.
