Ooh! I loved Oregon, but I didn't see Eugene - I went to Ashland, and Portland, and Portland is definitely one of my favourite cities in the US. From everything I've heard about Eugene I bet I'd love it. I hope your Mom finds the perfect place! I love places with those great old houses too. My friend Karin was thinking about moving to Oregon a while ago, ended up in San Diego instead, but she was looking at all the old "kit" homes, the kind you'd order the plan of and have built yourself. They tend to have 1920s styling, beautiful old fitted storage spaces and things like that, and lovely artistic details.

that's really great! my mother-in-law is talking about possibly moving here too. my father-in-law passed away last year so she's all alone in a big house in florida. she does bookkeeping and maybe be able to do most of what she does for her current employer remotely. the fact that emiliano is here (her only grandchild) is pushing her to move too. hope everything works out well for you and your mom!
