  • I have just returned from the Green City Farmer's Market in Old Town. This is the first time in a long time - er, or possibly ever? - that I have been to a farmer's market by myself (i.e. without someone else dragging me along). I got zucchini and green beans and potatoes and mini cucumbers and cherries and a sprig of peppermint, and ( Read more... )

You cook zucchini by slicing it and then sauteeing it in olive oil or butter with a sprinkling of salt. You can add herbs, too, if you want -- basil or thyme or tarragon are especially nice.

Potatoes can be baked, boiled, or roasted (or fried, but that's a little trickier).

And I know you didn't ask for recipes, but I am giving you some anyway, because hey, food! *g*

Roasted Potatoes (and actually there's a green bean recipe further up that same page)
Potato-Chickpea Stew
Squash & Corn Soup (you can use zucchini instead of yellow squash, and canned or frozen corn in place of fresh corn if you need to)
random one-pot saute with zucchini and green beans

...and I'll stop now. *g*

yaaaaaay, recipes! Thank you kindly! I'll try not to set my kitchen or myself on fire. :)

(I, uh, have no icons of healthy food. This is the best I can do. Hee.)

Roasting zucchini is very easy and yummy too--just toss it in oil, maybe a little thyme and salt and pepper or whatever herbs you like, and pop it in the oven at 400 or 425 for a few minutes (until it starts to brown).

Richard Dawkins is a certified a-hole, in my opinion, so I'm not surprised.

oooh, good to know. I think I may try the roasted zucchini thing, especially since it doesn't require any ingredients I don't already have, heh. Thanks!

And I knew next to nothing about Dawkins before reading TGD, which came across as 60% intelligence, 35% "no really I am WAY smarter than you", and 5% "stop whining, kiddies, SO WHAT if the bad man touched you". So, meh.
