Thank you so much, everyone, for the birthday wishes! I feel all loved and stuff. :) My birthday was pretty good this year: tzikeh took me out to brunch at Orange (cinnamon roll pancakes omg!!) where we squeed for an hour over Doctor Who and the awesomeness of John Simm, and then I went home and dyed my hair near-black (I was actually going for something ( Read more... )

Anyway! It is a beautiful Saturday in Chicago, so of course this morning I took advantage of the city and the weather by staying inside for several hours reorganizing my CD collection.

This? Is so me. "Man, what gorgeous weather! I should open the windows while I rearrange all my fonts!"

But then along come iTunes and Delicious Library which list the artists in alphabetical order by first name

Okay, can you explain Delicious Library to me? Do you use it on your Mac or PC? I thought it was for books?

I feel so bad for Peter Mulvey. I had to place him beside Phil Collins. (I actually sat there in front of the shelf, apologizing to my Peter Mulvey CDs and explaining that I didn't invent the alphabet, nor did I program iTunes, and there's nothing I can do about it and please don't be upset.)

May I metaquote this? Pretty please? And I'd LOVE to see the new goth-haired you!

EXACTLY.

Delicious Library is for books, music, movies, and games. I actually hadn't put any of my book info in there until about a week ago, and I've had the software for over a year. It's for Macs, and it costs $40 (but I use it a lot so it was totally worth it). There hasn't been a software update in a really long time, but supposedly version 2.0 is in the works and will be shipped with Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard". Basically, it's just a database for all the media you own. If you frequently loan stuff to other people, there's a really useful feature called "Borrowers": you can import people from your address book (or create new ones), assign to them the books or CDs or DVDs that they've borrowed, and set due dates , and it's really easy to see what's been loaned out and who has what. You can play around with mine sometime if you want, to see if you like it.

Metaquote away. :) If we are on for Monday brunch this week, I can show off my hair then!

I'm sitting here now, wondering if it's sane (or even possible) to love someone based solely on their CD collection and organizational habits...
