The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them

So I've read 24 and I was a lit minor. Some of those books I would NOT put in the top 100; they're just trendy (ahem ahem The Kite Runner). AND I think they skipped some amazing ones...there's no Edith Wharton (basically the woman responsible for feminist literature) and I love Frankenstein by Mary Shelley as well!

i liked kite runner alot, as well as a thousand splendid suns (hosseini's 2nd book)

Where are the classics like "The Oddysey" and "The Illiad"? And why is ALL of Shakespeare only one category??

Hmph. I'm just bitter I only read 21 of them.
