I've only just got to reading this ... and it was an absolute treat!

I've only really come across these two in Countdown so don't really know anything of their backstory at all (I'm just off to see what Google will tell me now) but this fic was awesome even without me knowing anything.

Thank you! I loved it. :D

Hopefully you've picked up some backstory from the rest of the community by now :-). Glad you liked the story; it seems to have gone over well in all. Cool!

Wow, Piper is such a good person. I can't believe how compelling you made that (I mostly gravitate towards the villains, lol).

I kept wishing that Tricks knew exactly how much Piper had to put up with and how much he, Trickster, owes him. Not that Trickster would ever admit it, so maybe he does know.

Damn it, I know it's not realistic for it to end with them falling into each other's arms, but I still want that!

Hey, thanks! I'm pretty fond of him too. :) He does also spend a lot of time being a jerk in this one (and expressing trauma, because boy, are they both loaded with that), but there's an extremely decent person in there. It's a shame he's having so much trouble with that lately.

He does know the important stuff--and it's only around part 4 that things started getting fuzzy, so he remembers the details from earlier--he knows that Piper stayed with him, took care of him as best he could, and risked his own life to get Trickster the medicine he needed. None of that is anything Trickster's going to forget in a hurry, although he'd definitely prefer to remember it without actually, you know, talking about it. *g*

Damn it, I know it's ( ... )

Oh, yeah, I've given that one a try. It was very nice. And I know that other people are working the relationship out that way (with slash). But, indeed, "friends" can be a very strong ending too, when there's so much to get through to get there.

awww, the ending....but there'll be more, right? *hopefully smile*

*cuddles both Trickster and Piper, and Blinky and Greeny for good measure*

I'm glad that Trickster got better and got right back into Con-Man mode, it seems like him. It really shows how much closer Piper is to Trickster though, when he can tell Trickster is warning him off, see desperation and actually have James thank him. I loved how you gave us warm Trickster fuzzies, but still kept him Trickster.

I wonder what Trickster was mumbling about? It seems so very much like him to wake Piper up with a "There's a needle in my leg." I don't know why that made me laugh so much.

Half of me wants to smack Trickster for accusing Piper for "doing something" but the other half of me in nodding in understanding. *smacks Trickster anyway*

"Oh! Yeah, you were worried that somebody'd made off with it. Maybe you were hallucinating a ring of desperate door-stealing thieves.Hilarious. Is that going to come up sometime later? I can see it becomming a bit of a inside joke between ( ... )

Ack! Sorry I took so long to reply to you; I really appreciate your comments, trust me :-).

Well, we're about 3 chapters into the next fic, so yeah. We couldn't resist :-).

Yeah, he just can't help it in the end, but Piper knows too much to be fooled. Trickster's alarmed at how little that bothers him at times :-).

I wonder what Trickster was mumbling about?

Probably a variety of things; he wasn't very coherent at the time, and he was exhausted as well :-).

It seems so very much like him to wake Piper up with a "There's a needle in my leg." I don't know why that made me laugh so much. Well, it's difficult to know what to say under ( ... )

I really, really, really hope there'll be more of this! I'm so torn--I love the buddy-vibe (grudging as it is on Trickster's part), but on the other hand there's so much wonderful potential for more...nnnngh!

I very much enjoyed the painful dancing-around-the-topic James and Piper do here, with James unwilling to be too open (I desperately wanted more from him, but it just would become unrealistic if he were effusive), and Piper just happy to have him out of danger. *melts* I so love the way you write these two and would love to see more--either in this series or any other!

Great job with this...
