Nice! Mighty!Piper is downright awesome. And to be quite honest, this whole holiday-conscience thing sounds awfully familiar. I'm going crazy right now with plenty of one-time holiday volunteers swarming this place. Note to James: can we do this again sometime in March or April???

it wouldn't make a very good christmas special in april though XP lol i know what you mean though. when i worked at a nursing home we'd run into those problems around may-when the highschool kids were about to graduate and needed to get in their volunteer hours.

speaking of mighty!piper, i can't wait until his next canon appearance to see how they work with the anti-life powers...i been kinda waiting for some info on that since countdown ended. he's significantly more powerful now. i would love to see that have some kind of effect.

Where there's Anti-Life, there must also be Life. Which is where I hope that they'll take the character in the near future. There's such a potential there for doing good, but also for taking things too far. Seeing Piper specifically dealing with the "if I were God..." issue would be a fantastic use of the character.

And where are you getting these high school kids? I go out and actually make presentations at the school which abuts onto our parking lot, but we're everyone's last choice for some reason. I mean, kids are writing 20-page theses rather than doing volunteer work with us, LOL! I only had three volunteers last year, and only one of them really was into it.

the catholic highschools in my area require volunteer hours, so that's how the nursing home got them, but the volunteers were actually more of a nuisance than anything. they only needed to volunteer for a week, and it takes about a month before you're actually helpful in the activity department. plus we still had to do coris on them, which cost the underfunded department money.

i have no idea what to expect the next time piper shows up. countdown was such a clusterfuck of unresolved dangling plot lines, i STILL haven't figured out exactly what happened in final crisis, and i'm not too sure what the status is with the anti-life equation without the new gods anyway. i trust geoff johns to either find a good way to use it all or retcon the recent confusion into something that makes sense though.

I had a feeling James was gonna be involved. I figured it was gonna either be him or Piper fucking with those poor guys. (I'm a total Rogue sympathizer, I admit, even Evan. -snugs him- He's so misunderstooooooooooooood. lol)

Great story, though. :3 I don't read much, but you always keep me interested. X3

aw, thanks for the comment :) i do heartily recommend reading our rogues fic if you get a chance-between the two comms we've got quite a lot of awesomeness going on. i consider myself very lucky to have stumbled into this fandom.

and lol i think we're all rogue sympathizers...some of us just like particular rogues more than others. i think evan's a really interesting character to work with, but i haven't used him much for two reasons 1)writing in dialect terrifies me and 2)piper's usually my protagonist. given their history, it would be difficult to do something light with them, so evan's lurking on my backburner for an extended project.

At work, we just spent our excess maintenance money to buy these ... well, they're sort of the love-child of welcome mats and electric blankets. You put them out just before the snowstorm, plug 'em in, and the snow never gets the chance to stick to the sidewalk. And they feel so good on tired feet that we all stand outside at break time, going "Ooooh! Ahhhhh!" to ourselves.

Flame thrower sounds like even more fun, however.
