I love that locket painting! What a great idea.

And how was the deviled egg recipe with butter? I saw a similar recipe and decided against trying it...mainly because I'm cheap and didn't want to waste butter if it turned out terrible.

It was fine, nothing to get too excited over. It was only 3 tbsp of butter. The recipe had a lot of sugar in it, which I mostly omitted, just putting in a pinch to counteract the mustards and pickle brine. Like potato salad and coleslaw, I do not think deviled eggs need to taste sweet.

Lovely cake! I'm still mad that I haven't had time to make most of the recipes in that book yet. If it were pure malt powder I'd suggest making bagels (boiling bagels in water and malt is what gives them their great "skin") but if it's malted MILK powder, hmmm.

Beautiful locket. Sorry that the car is being a poo-head.
