Saturday I had a bunch of extra stuff to do and Silent Book Club in the afternoon, so I had to plan better than usual. After making eggs and toast--salmon furikake (which I have from making okonomiyaki last week) is really good on fried eggs by the way--I showered and dressed and went out right away, instead of lazing around for an hour or so like ( Read more... )

We rewatched the first season of True Detective because there was supposed to be a connection to the fourth season. Which there was, but a very tenuous one. So of course we had the watch the second season, mostly because I really like Colin Farrell. All that's left to watch is the third season, which I don't remember anything about it.

LOL the 2nd season was god-awful. HBO pushed Pizzolatto to have it ready in a year and he just wasn't up to it. The 3rd season is immeasurably better, probably in no small part because they let him take his time (also a phenomenal performance from Mahershala Ali).

Here's a piece of weird trivia for you, Robin Williams auditioned for the Jack Nicholson part in the Shining but they turned him down because he acted TOO crazy!

I read your description of dessert whilst munching on some Bugles. I was like, "hmm, could you replace the Rice Krispies with those?" (Yeah, probably not, they're a weird shape and not very compact. But I'd be curious how they'd turn out).

You probably could if you crumbled them a bit. They're the right texture. That would give you a saltier taste, but I'm a fan of sweet and salty combo flavors.
