My COVID vaccine and the two booster shots I got knocked me the fuck out. Yes, I'm glad I got them, but that was the sickest I've ever been and probably the only time in my life I had zero appetite. You and Jamie are incredible people for looking after your mom to this extent. Not everyone would, including myself. I have microscopic patients for adults who refuse to take care of themselves at the expense of others. I know it's not totally her fault--depression is a bitch as is mental illness--but dragging others down with you is, to me, borderline unforgivable.

If you react strongly to one of them then I would get both at once and just get them over with. Just make sure you have plenty of whatever you want when you have the flu (for me it's Coke--real stuff, not diet--and Ritz crackers).

If you mean the version from the late '90s, it's nothing like that. It's not attempting to be a one-to-one adaptation of the novel. The novel serves as more of an inspiration and the series is really about how grief and trauma haunts people, although there are also plenty of scares.
