Didn't she say something to the effect that if it weren't for Charlie she wouldn't have killed anybody?

Recently? No idea, but I'm sure she's said it at some point. I'm also not a fan of the stress parole boards put on "showing remorse", because it doesn't take into account people who have been convicted of crimes they didn't actually commit. I think your actions while incarcerated, and your prospects of life after prison, should count for more.

I recently saw a documentary series about the Fukushima Daiichi disaster. I was surprised at how many mistakes were made, and how the bureaucrats and government officials were portrayed, so it isn't just Chernobyl that appear to have been made worse by how those in charge reacted.

I'm not sure how I feel about Van Houten being released. I really do doubt that she'll kill again, but the original killings were so horrific that I can see why the families would prefer she spend the rest of her life in jail.

I don't have an argument with any victim's family member who thinks she should die in prison, even if I disagree. They have a right to feel that way. I just think they should be honest about it. This claim that she'll kill again is dumb. (To be fair, that's not all of them saying that.)
