Chapter 1 He isn’t jealous.
He doesn’t have a reason to be.
It’s just a stupid cat. Of course Mi would be spending time with the damned thing. It wasn’t like he had to go out of his way to make plans with it when it was always waiting at home for him. There is no effort there.
“Does that damned thing ever leave you alone? I swear he’s always with you whenever I come over.” Kyuhyun complains, trying not to glare at the fluffy little thing curled up on the arm of the sofa next to Zhou Mi.
“Min is a sweet cat, Kui Xian. He even climbs under the blankets and sleeps right next to me.” Mi looks from the cat to his friend and shakes his head with a laugh. “Wouldn’t you be lonely if you were by yourself for most of the day?”
“I guess. But I swear I’ve seen him glaring at me.” Maybe he’s paranoid.
“That’s just silly. Cats don’t glare. Especially not ones as nice as my little Minnie.” Zhou Mi’s laughter sounds almost like music. It’s always been one of things that Kyuhyun has found the most distracting about the lanky man; not that he would tell him that.
Kyuhyun decides that the best kind of response is digging his fingers into that perfectly styled crimson hair so he can pull their mouths together. The kiss is far more possessive than it has a right to be, but Zhou Mi can’t bring himself to care. There’s something so familiar in the way Kyuhyun interjects himself into his personal space that Mi finds himself draping his arms around his shoulders, grasping at the rumpled cotton of his polo shirt.
It’s somewhere between lips on his clavicle and fingers pulling the buttons of his shirt open that Zhou Mi begins to register what all of this touching is doing to him. It also takes about that long for Kyuhyun to feel something sharp and heavy on his back. Mi’s nails are always perfectly manicured, but they’ve never felt like that before.
“He bit me! Your damned cat bit me!” Kyuhyun hisses, feeling no guilt when he flings the offending animal halfway across the room. His hand comes to the side of his neck, fingers gingerly touching the throbbing skin and pulling away to find small smudges of red on his fingers. “Still think I’m paranoid?”
“Min! That’s naughty!” Zhou Mi scolds, doing his best to look angry at the small cat that has come to rub against his leg affectionately. “Don’t bite Kui Xian.”
“Do you really think that he understands you?” Kyuhyun whines again as he stands and walks to the bathroom to check the damage in the mirror. It had stopped bleeding, but the skin was angry and red and gave him more than enough of a reason to keep complaining. “Just look at it! It’s all red!”
“Oh my poor Kui Xian.” Zhou Mi coos dramatically, figuring it’s better to play into Kyuhyun’s desires than trying to argue. “Let me take care of you and make it better.”
Min doesn’t have a chance to interrupt again, bathroom door closing in his face.

“Are you sure about that? I’ve heard about it, but it’s really expensive, Kui Xian.” Zhou Mi worries, leaning back just a bit in his computer chair as he looks over the email his friend sent him. “It doesn’t really seem like a place you would like.”
“Just trust me, Mimi. Heechul-hyung has been trying to get me to come in since he made all of the renovations, so this is the perfect opportunity. Besides, it’s not like we’ve never gone to places like this before.” Kyuhyun reasons, voice lightly muffled over the phone. “I’ve already made a reservation, so you have no choice.”
“Oh alright. But you know this means you have to let me take you shopping. A sweater vest is not acceptable for that place.” Zhou Mi lets out a soft sigh, fingers running through his hair. “And it’s my birthday, so you have no choice.”
Zhou Mi is right. He really doesn’t have a choice. Even if it involves being pulled along to at least twelve different stores and trying on more shirts than he could count. But it doesn’t mean that he can’t complain when Zhou Mi picks out a pair of pants he is sure is a size too small but apparently makes his ass look better than it ever has.

It’s a few days later when he has to shimmy himself into those dark jeans, but Kyuhyun figures the appreciative look that Zhou Mi shoots him when he shows up at his door is more than worth it. At least Zhou Mi lets him get away with a fitted t-shirt and well-fitted slate gray blazer. Getting completely dressed up would only make him feel like he was going into work, and that was the farthest thing from his mind.
“You can’t be serious about that hair, Kui Xian. You look like Ni Qiu.” Zhou Mi gasps, looking horrified as he yanks Kyuhyun into his bathroom and sits him down to fix it for him. “I thought you were paying attention to what the stylist told you about styling it.”
“It’s too much work to get it right. You know I’m not good at things like this. That’s what I have you for.” Kyuhyun rolls his eyes and lets Mi do whatever he wants to his untamed mop of curls. “And what the hell is a Ni Qiu?”
“Ni Qiu is a dog I left with my parents in Wuhan. He’s an adorable little thing with curly hair just like yours.” Zhou Mi states in a matter-of-fact way. “There. Now you look like a man instead of a puppy.”
Kyuhyun knows that he should be insulted, but the fact that his hair looks well managed and sexy is enough for him to settle for a little mumbled grumbling.
Zhou Mi, on the other hand, looks like he walked out of a fashion magazine. Kyuhyun doesn’t know how he manages to make a simple button up, asymmetrical blazer and dark purple skinny jeans work together with that hair of his, but he figures it has something to do with his ridiculously long legs and impeccable taste in jewelry. Not that he would know anything about that himself or anything.
“Are you ready? We were supposed to leave twenty minutes ago.” Whining seems to be Kyuhyun’s forte. He can even manage to do it when he isn’t actually annoyed.
“Yes, Kui Xian. Just let me make sure Min has enough food.” Mi replies with a smile, kohl liner being placed back on his vanity. It only takes a moment and he returns to the living room with his wallet, keys, and slightly nervous smile.
It surprises Zhou Mi how happy Kyuhyun looks when they finally step into the dimly lit entry way of the club; it was definitely a rare sight.
“So you finally managed to bring Seasoning here.” The sudden addition of a new voice has Zhou Mi turning his head and jumping slightly. He certainly didn’t expect Heechul to greet them. He was the owner, not a regular employee. “I’m sure you’re going to more than enjoy your birthday here, Gentleman Mimi.”
“Why do I feel like I’m walking into the lion’s den?” Mi replies, doing his best to swallow his nervousness. With Heechul being involved, anything was possible, and that was a little unsettling.
“Don’t be so dramatic. Hannie wouldn’t let me do anything mean to you. And it’s not like I would want to on your birthday.” There’s a pout on Heechul’s face that looks completely out of place, and neither Kyuhyun nor Zhou Mi can help the face they make.
“Is Heechul trying to scare you?” The second new voice is a little more comforting; lightly accented and softer than his counterpart. “You know that I wouldn’t let him give you anything but the best seats for your birthday.”
“You were in on this too?” Zhou mi sighs, shaking his head as he’s led up a set of stairs and into a room decorated in plush sapphire blue velvet and black leather. The round tables were dressed in matching satin table cloths, and even Zhou Mi has to admit that it’s the classiest gentleman’s club he’s ever stepped foot in.
“It’s your 25th birthday, Mimi. Kyuhyun wanted to do something special, so it’s not like we could say no.” Han Geng replies, motioning to the waiter. “We have someone new that I’m sure you’re going to like.”
Mi just sighs softly and sits himself in one of the extravagant chairs facing the stage. It was clear that there was no way he was going to get out of this, so he may as well enjoy it, right?
The lights dim somewhere around his second drink, and the flash of blue and low thrum of pulsing music draw his attention away from his conversation with Kyuhyun and toward the parting curtains behind the stage. He doesn’t expect it when two men step out hand in hand with matching suits. Zhou Mi thinks the garish gold and silver are a little much, but they’ll be peeled off soon enough, so does it really matter?
Actually, the way they move with one another is completely captivating. It’s as if they’re one entity; completely in sync even as they pull article after article of clothing from one another. Zhou Mi thinks they might even go at it on stage until he sees a familiar pair of lightly tanned hands pulling them back behind the curtains. Apparently you have to pay extra for some things.
“I didn’t know they came in pairs.” Kyuhyun muses, speech only slightly sloppy. Zhou Mi doesn’t know how much he’s had to drink, but he supposes that it must be a lot to have him grinning so stupidly. “Something like that might be fun, hmm?”
Mi stares at him for just a moment before downing the rest of whatever was in that martini glass. “Maybe but I-”
His voice catches in his throat when he glances back at the flashing lights of the dance floor. The thrumming beat of dance music has been replaced by something darker; slower and more seductive. But that isn’t what grabs his attention.
His hair is dark and swept over one of his eyes; highlighted only by the flashes of blue that wash over the stage. On anyone else, leather pants might have been tacky, but Zhou Mi is sure that he’s never seen thighs look that good. He’s sure that he sees those ebony eyes staring directly up at him, and something about it has Zhou Mi swallowing thickly. There’s something so primal and alluring in that gaze that Mi finds himself completely entranced by every small movement he makes.
“Who… Who is that, Kui Xian?” Zhou Mi feels his throat becoming dry, silently thanking Heechul for the unending drinks that seem to be coming his way.
“I have no idea. But I can tell you that I would love to see what he looks like bent over something else.” Kyuhyun’s grin is lazy, smug and completely arrogant. “I wonder what it would take to bring him home.”
“You know, I might have to find out.”
