Writing started on January 27. 180 degrees change of idea on January 30. IT WAS PAINFUL! I have never killed my babies before after completing them so much. And don't get me wrong it's not the part with "killing my babies" that was actually painful (i actually cut in the flesh quite easily), but the part of re-writing literally <--- *is a lazy writer* I even ended up with another big chunk of unused material as a result of this story *laughs* RE-WRITING IS YOUR FRIEND THOUGH :D I've been told about my beta that my writing has improved, YAY

BIG THANKS to rheakurokawa for English betaing this when she was actually on her way to bed <3

*history dates worth mentioning: on 2010-04-23 hyacinthdreams discovered Kai Vodka. TRUE FACT <3 This future wouldn't have existed without it :)

In the morning he drops by Uruha's room. The door is opened ajar and on the bed Kai can distinguish three pairs of scattered jeans. The black one instantly steals his attention, inelegantly laying with the pant legs spread open, one on the bed, the other on the floor, the denim and black acid washed colored resting closely next to a rumpled shirt in the middle of the bed. It looks like someone broke in their shared apartment, but Kai knows this is just one of another Uruha's routines.

He pushes the door open and steps in carrying a condescending smile. "Uruha?"

"Did you see where I put the hair dryer?"

It's a first for him to get caught up in between the strong men cologne wafts lingering in Uruha's room, although he stepped this border so many times before. Uruha's bare back is glistening in the morning light from small droplets of water he missed drying after his shower and Kai finds himself staring: the waistband from Uruha's navy boxers, the way his jeans hang low on his hips, too low. It's a nice pair of jeans and it looks clean and fresh. Kai knows it smells like the fabric softener he bought last Tuesday after practice. He puts these thoughts aside; it's not even a special day, national holiday or weekend, it's just a bloody Monday.

"What?"

"The hair dryer." Uruha turns around and his sly grin misses spelling clueless. "I don't know where I put the hair dryer." Kai is so good at finding all the things Uruha needs.

"Did you even try?"

He doesn't even wait for an answer back, simply starts looking around for a messy, entangled black plastic cable covered in dust that would win him the upper hand to another educational preach to the disorderly guitarist. Who knows, maybe this time it will be even two feet closer to Uruha's fallen phone behind the rack of mangas than last time.

"Do I look good?"

Uruha's pink, nude nipples definitely look good and so does his straight abs and his washed hair which is a mess but nevertheless a pretty black and white. Um, what?

"Yes," yes. Kai flashes him an eye-rolling smile that knows will boost up his confidence. "You're gonna kill it today."

-

The index finger slides down on the paper over the title songs. Kai's lips move mutely.

"Did they come right to the number?"

Broken from his thoughts, Kai's mind suddenly goes muddy, his head turning in an instant to where the sound came from. He watches Uruha bringing himself closer, carrying an unreadable smile. Uruha doesn't even look at him, he holds his stare on the setlist carefully taped on the wall.

Kai laughs amused, for a brief second the possibility of Uruha secretly studying him for who knows how much hitting him.

"No. I mean, I was not counting."

Uruha shifts the weight of his body from one foot to the other, comes closer to Kai, makes half a circle around him, takes a better look at the setlist, smiles to himself. "No?"

"What are you doing here?" Honestly curious.

"You mean at this hour?"

Kai nods and watches the way Uruha takes two steps back and goes behind him and then past him, redraws the invisible half circle on the ground. "I bought you coffee. It's strong."

Kai doesn't see how this has any connection with anything. Because it doesn't, it's just Uruha changing the subject really. Is it?

Kai turns his own stare too on the setlist mimicking Uruha. Sometimes it's simply easier to follow.

"And with rocks," Uruha adds.

"That's a first."

-

Uruha has been watching them talk, Reita keeping himself busy with Kai, stealing all the show, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol definitely something that puts your blood into motion and your tongue to keep telegraphing up and down inside your mouth, articulating and expelling words like a factory. He didn't see the movie and he has to put a blind wall against their spoiler alert torrent gushing everywhere - even at the sex scenes. In the busy nightclub the rhythm section keeps exchanging key lines between them from the movie, making inside jokes from the highlight moments of action, and man, do you realize how cool it would be to have this clean designer car and having to climb this really tall building?

When Ruki finally arrives they all four start the next round of drinks. Kazuki calls to announce his late arrival with their superstar guitarist. With Aoi of course.

Somewhere around 1am Uruha finds the spot empty next to Kai when the group partially scatters and Aoi is busy on the dance floor with this crazy exuberant Kansai girl with gorgeous dreads and Reita out to buy some food with Ruki because Ruki got suddenly hungry. He slides in with his drink in his hand on the long dark couch next to Kai, the side of his right thigh finding itself closely pressed against Kai's, shoulders glued at the top. He rests his back on the couch rest, drops his head on Kai.

"See that girl?" Kai begins.

Uruha doesn't hear, so he has to move up and leave his relaxed position.

"I think she likes Reita," Kai continues.

Suddenly interested, Uruha curiously turns all of his attention to where Kai points with his hand holding his beer bottle in the air, like cheering for a toast.

The girl is dancing with her friends, looking like nothing Reita would be interested in.

"How do you know that?"

Kai can tell he's mocking him.

"I simply can. That's also the reason Reita left with Ruki."

Uruha laughs openly mocking. "Really?" He's curious to know the motives, to untangle Kai's mind, to see how it works.

"See, while you were down the hall to take your piss three songs ago she came to hit on him."

"How?"

"Well, same old song. First a little bump, a sweet, deceitful excuse-me blink of eyes, then a smart placed will you buy me a drink?". Kai takes a sip from his beer. "It all happened on the dance floor."

Uruha eyes her from up to down, mentally compares her to what he knows about Reita and what he likes. "She doesn't stand a chance."

Kai snickers. "That's the whole thing," he turns making eye-contact with Uruha briefly, "she knows exactly what she's doing, I'm placing all my money on her."

"You sound so confident," Uruha smiles in his drink. Kai doesn't comment, he leaves a short welcoming silence over them.

"I'm going to hit the dance floor," Kai then announces.

When Kai comes back he's all sweaty, eyes glassy and wearing this impossibly attractive smile. Uruha offers him a drink before resuming his conversation with Kazuki. The blood is running madly in Kai's veins and his perception is intoxicated, body undergoing through a general state of bliss and happiness. The taste of the drink catches his attention. He watches the two men talk and his eyes briefly stop over Kazuki's lip ring. He then changes his attention to the dance floor and spots a heavily pierced and fierce dark haired girl that puts a show in swaying her body in rhythm with the distorted overwhelming bass lines from the dubstep. He definitely likes what he sees. "What's this drink?" he throws briefly in Uruha's direction.

Kazuki smiles charmingly when Kai's question hits his ears also. He finds Uruha smiling at him like making him promise not to say anything. It's not the first time Kazuki gets entangled in Gazette's business. His pretty mouth swears a silence pact.

"Love potion number 69", Uruha purposely turns to look over his shoulder at Kai, deliciously wanting to see his reaction.

Kai snorts unceremoniously, his body shaking Uruha a little, drink in question spilling a little on his hand. "Really?" He then brings the hand to his mouth, sucks off the film of moisture on his skin.

Uruha's smile curls the corners of his mouth. He looks away and continues his talk unbothered with Kazuki. Kai empties the glass leaving it at that.

When Ruki and Reita come back they all steal a bite from their takeaways. Kazuki meets up with Hiroto and they all gather to a big table of dirty talks and lazy jokes. Aoi has his Kansai girl circling his waist and exchanging Kansai dialect sentences no one really needs a translation for. They leave shortly when they think no one notices.

"A toast for Aoi not dying an old man," Ruki bursts into a fit of evil giggles. They all burst into a fit of evil giggles. Except for Kazuki and Hiroto who don't really feel entitled enough to do so too, their laughs keeping a more tasteful and polite note.

"I'm buying you a drink," Kai boldly announces Uruha over the table from where he stands next to Reita. "How about the one you handed me before?"

From where he stands, Kazuki smiles to himself.

Ruki seems intrigued by this exchange of lines between his drummer and guitarist with obvious past reference he knows nothing about. His attention immediately shifts on them, eyes shining with sheer delight of gathering up dirt and future gossip material. His life has a purpose again.

Uruha holds the stare of you have no idea what you're getting yourself in for Kai only. He breaks in a patient smile.

"What's this about?" Reita asks.

"Kai wants to buy himself," Uruha then calmly explains.

Ruki snickers looking at Kai being taken aback, not really getting it. He doesn't get it either but he definitely wants to know more about it. "Why won't you buy us all a drink, Kai?" Ruki offers.

Kai starts laughing darkly obviously not satisfied with the outcome of his tentative. He can see himself starting back in Gazette, trying to buy his respect around them four, being made to do this and that, buying drinks now and then. He turns to look at Ruki, flashing him a not very kind smile.

Reita starts to laugh.

Uruha's eyes shine intensely at Kai.

They label it Kai Day. They try to persuade Kai how they all have to taste the pleasure, how the vodka's slogan so foxily puts it, making one crazy long list of demands, because, well yes, their leader loves lists. Although Kai still thinks it's a joke, apparently there is this drink distilled from Vietnam's rare yellow-blossom rice carrying his name. Uruha is the one that brings the bottle to the table. Ruki pulls out his phone to tweet about it. He's impossible to stop.

"It's not even that good," Kai feebly whines to Uruha later, lazily leaning on Uruha for support on another couch right after Kazuki and Hiroto leave together with Ruki. Four rows in front Reita makes his moves to the girl Uruha said Reita wouldn't. The room starts to spin a little for Kai from all the drinks he had.

There's a smile forming on Uruha's face when he realizes what Kai is talking about. "Come on, you loved all the attention," he reminds him, his hand patting him friendly.

"Love potion 69," Kai rolls the words out of his tongue. He feels Uruha turning his face towards him, shaking him from his balanced state. Their eyes lock for a second. They both laugh like it's 30 years later and they're enjoying a shared stupid secret joke no one else knows about.

-

Two mornings pass and Uruha meets alone in their kitchen with another Kai. It's this girl that squeaks the most embarrassing sound out in surprise and laughs while taking apologizing short bows to Uruha, her face reddening impossibly charming. Her chest is mostly flat but her nipples give out through the soft orange fabric of the petite top with the two lovely thin straps. She has Kai's smile and really Uruha feels attracted to her already like that time he watched that movie and there was this female character that Uruha thought it was the perfect Kai-copy in female form (Reita disagreed). Uruha is mostly a gentleman but also lacking manners because really, how are you supposed to react to coming to take your breakfast in the morning and bumping into the girl you know Kai fucked last night while she tries to go past you in her bare feet and cute panties?

Kai makes the introductions when Misa - that's the girl's name - prepares to leave. By the second coffee shared in the kitchen Kai asks Uruha how come he's home; he implies that he wouldn't have bought Misa if he knew he'll come later on.

Uruha thinks Kai looks devastatingly sexy the morning after he scores.
