Food Kills

Jan 04, 2007 13:35

For some reason, this piece of nanny-state politics really gets me. Why not just write "FOOD KILLS" across every food item, like the smokers have, and be done with it? And they don't address the problem of obese chavs being able to order Double Bacon Cheeseburgers at Maccy Ds. Although I'm probably still a little cynical from watching BBC4's ( Read more... )

Lugging it ... open? Don't you mean home? And there's this piece of kit called the "carrier bag" which allows you to carry items too large for one or even two hands :D

Nice userpic, btw. Although I prefer the tea-cup.

Damn, I was listening to Radio 4 at the time and not concentrating. Fixed now. :)

It's a big book dude! 14" by 17"! Huge!

But supporters of the FSA's traffic light system ... say the GDA system is flawed because many adults do not understand percentages. The FSA says its research shows traffic light labels are easier to understand.

Doesn't that make you want to bang your head against a wall? Of course a single colour symbol is easier to understand than a numeric, relative, symbol which requires a moment's interpretation. Gah. Dumbing down really gets my goat. Sugar! Bad!

Why not use the percentage system, then the sufficiently ignorant, who can't understand that 100 000% of the guideline daily amount could be a bad thing, might kill themselves off, thereby improving the gene pool by increasing the average intelligence.

To admit that you cannot understand percentages should make you so ashamed that you'd need to hide under your bed for a week.

Although I guess we shouldn't underestimate how dumb people are. I was in the car hire agency the other day, standing in the queue. The girl at the counter actually used a calculator to work out how much £3 a day for 10 days would cost in total.

Haha! That's exactly what I thought when I read that! "Hey, that means that people too stupid or ignorant to understand nutrition labels will die off! Fantastic!"

Of course, maybe we should go a step further and ramp up fats/salt/etc in the food. Then we could cull the ignorant faster :D
