have you tried the baking soda trick? put baking soda in your hand and lick it up. do NOT rinse your mouth ro drink water for a few minutes. repeat every ten minutes or so... the idea is to make your throat Ph in hospitable to the bug. it is high salt though
Like I said, garlic is out. The baking soda thing sounds vile, I'd have to have a doctor tell me that one's sound... I'm iffy on home remedies because a lot of them can do more harm than good.
(I hope I don't come off ungrateful, it's just that I have to be especially cautious of anything I ingest because it can set off GI stuff that can make a throat bug feel like a walk in the park.)
the baking soda thing is mostly dangerous if you need to avoid salt. my doctor said its silly, but harmless... a friend who is a doctor said it has some reasoning behind it... all i know is it works for me. you can end up taking in a lot of salt if you overdo it.
but hun, you have GI issues.... of course you have to be careful! those are the remedies i know of.. that and the "stew" option i mentioned (hot liquids, hot baths, repeat)
in my case i know that anti biotics will set my gut bacteria to die off in droves, so i tend to worry about it. takes me ages to get my gut bacteria back in line.
I've become a big fan of Steampunk (it is far cooler and refined than the Goth I used to get into. Plus it gives me a chance to fiddle and craft if I have the time and money, Goth didn't. It also is up my SF alley)...and this band...just is rather cool.
I've ranted about them on my LJ a few times when discussing steam punk. I want to buy their album in fact.
I think I might buy their CD too, even though I don't like the other songs I've heard quite as much as Sleep Isabella.
(And I've got a wicked crush on Finn. :)
I've mixed feelings about steampunk as a whole, though. I came in via the Victorian route (I'm on a kick right now over all things Victorian, especially books set in Victorian London) and love that aspect of it. Airships bore me silly, though, and some of the steampunk stuff reads to me as pretentious as goth does. I like the look of the aesthetic better, though.
Airships aren't the whole thing of Steampunk, though they're rather popular now (I suspect the airship pirate meme has gotten a bit out of hand). I love airships myself, (and really enjoyed the Dr. Who episode where they go to a London covered in airships), but its not the only thing there.
Yeah, it can be pretentious, but its much less so than Goth, with its aristocratic bs.
I love the aesthetic, and I also have always liked Victorian era fiction from Wells to Doyle. So its kind of fun.
