The Last Week.

Alright...   I haven't really updated in awhile, or been online all that much.   Sorry.   I've actually been busy doing last minute stuff to get my brother ready for school, catching up with friends that I didn't get to see over the summer, and doing some last minute stuff to get myself ready for school... I know a few days ago I promised that when ( Read more... )

If you end up liking the mead, it's easy enough to make that you could do it yourself -- even in Buffalo, the land of lake-effect snow.

All it takes is honey, water, yeast, and fruit or spices or whatever you want. That plus six months and you can make your own!

Have fun in Buffalo...

Oh. Hey there. ( :

Thanks for the info about making mead. I've had a few friends who've made wine, and it didn't seem like too much work, just seemed like it took up a lot of space...

Find yourself a large pot, and on a Saturday morning get all the ingredients together -- five or six gallons of spring water, a whole bunch of honey, and your other goodies. Heat the water, stir in the honey, keep heating it and scrape off the scum that comes to the top, and let it cool. Stir in your goodies (except the yeast), and put it into carboys -- large glass bottles like the ones you see in water bubblers in offices. Prepare the yeast by making some warm water with sugar, and stir in the yeast to get it active. Once it's active, pour it into the carboys, put on some airlocks, and wait.

Six or seven months later, it's time to get it out of the carboys. :-)

Hmm. Very cool. Perhaps it will be a project for when I'm home for Christmas or spring break.

And I just saw the title of your comment. Haha. Yeah, this was an entry of doom. I'm surprised you made it through. I usually keep it brief... But I just kept going... ( :
