So last night I left work with a $10 gift card to Kohl's and a need for a tire gauge. Somehow I came home at 9:30pm with two bags of shopping from Target and Kohl's.
First I went into Kohl's with that $10 burning a hole in my pocket. I tried on a bunch of clothes. Tons of pants in different cuts and brands, a few tops, a couple of dresses, and a few blazers. I took away one pair of Levi's 515 jeans. Then as I was disappointingly placing a cool non-fitting blazer back, I noticed that the solid black ones had a different cut, so I tried it on, it fit and I took it with me. I should have stopped there, but I just can't for some reason. Then I went and looked at purses. Despite the array of red leather and some cool leopard print there wasn't the perfect combination that begged to come home with me. sigh. Onto shoes. Again, some cute options, but nothing that either fitted perfectly or begged to be added to the collection. Until I was walking out of the store and I saw a stand completely unrelated near the jewelry area of cute shoes, and they had a cool pair of brown patterned flats in my size that were comfy and on sale. Okay, sold! I'm even happily wearing them today. Shouldn't I have left there? Sure, but I had to browse the costume jewelry before finally checking out.
but I still didn't have a tire gauge, so against my better judgment, I darted over to Target. I got the tire gauge very quickly and even passed on the fancy digital ones for a plain $2 old fashioned one. But who can leave Target with only a $2 purchase. Hardly worth standing in line for. So I go check out the DVD's. Nothing inspiring. Head over to handbags. Again, nothing I love. Oh, but shoes are near by. Alas, the only really tempting pair (leopard print with a black quilted patent leather toe) was either too big or too snug. So, I head over to clothing and browse and browse and browse, and try on many options, and finally come away with a pair of lounging terry capris and a pair of Isaac Mizrahi black slacks. Yes, these are indeed the exact same pair of IM pants I bought back in March, but the next size down. Whoohoo. The old ones were just too baggy. So, finally, purchases in hand (I didn't grab a basket as I was only there for the tire gauge) I head to the register. They only have so many open, the lines are all long, and I get behind a lady who has to argue the price over 10 different items of kids clothes. So I grabbed a magazine as well to kill the time.
Neither was an insane amount of buying, which was good. But for some reason I have a hard time leaving a store until I know I've seen almost everything it has to offer. This practice is very time consuming. Alan only called me worried once though. Enough to know he thinks of me, but not harassing me to get home.
Sigh, happy retail therapy. The hunt is so much fun, even if I only captured a few things.
