Dansko owners

Hello Ladies!

I had such a fun time shoe shopping with Theo on Saturday, even if the world got all topsy-turvy since she bought more shoes and clothes than me during that trip. We went to the Walking Company in the Columbia Mall and got to try on a variety of comfortable shoes. This is pressing on my mind since the Winterthur visit, and knowing ( Read more... )

I do love my danskos, but I hate shopping for my danskos. I echo the comment of sskipstress, it is easy to turn an ankle in the clogs (professionals). I wear them for work because they are great of standing in. The professionals are not, however, great for walking in.

I love that the shoes actually touch my archs. I find many of professionals rub the top of my foot, above the arch, too much. I have tried on every pair they had in my size in different walking stores though. I hate actually shopping for danskos.

I have heard many good things about sanita clogs for those who like danskos but have issues with the shoe rubbing on the top of the foot about the arch. I am investigating these through zappos.

I know Drea has several different styles of danskos, so maybe ask her specifically for her opinion...

The Walking Company also had Sanita clogs in the store, but I didn't try them on since I was looking at the Danskos. Perhaps I should. Monica says (on FB) the Walking Company store at the Stony Point Mall in Richmond has great service and then you can try them on and know for certain. That does required the time to go to a Mall, but the prices seem comparable to Zappos.

I get my Dansko Professionals on Ebay, since I've been wearing them for 10yrs and know my size and how they fit. I'd love to branch out to other styles, especially sandals, but shoes that cost that much are not in my budget these days. :(

Good thing my Professionals last about 4-5 years before I feel a need to replace them!

I have a pair of the professionals and a pair of the Marcelles, and I vastly prefer the Marcelles. The professionals press on the top of my foot (I have a high arch and high top of the foot) and cause my left toes to go numb. If I went up a size, the left would be fine but the right would be too big, and Zappos doesn't mix sizes.

Thank You! I find my foot seems to be higher across the top than some traditional shoes fit. Snugged down felted wool socks take a little more effort to get over my heel for example. I'm thinking of just going back to the store since the prices seem comparable and then I can try them on again and pay attention to the rub at the top of the foot.

Your new shoes are cute. Sorry I didn't do the poll, but I've never worn Danskos so can't advise you.

Check 6pm.com for shoes if you know exactly what you want. It's where Zappos sends shoes they are discounting heavily--a Zappos-owned company. No free returns, is the only problem.

I love my Professional clogs and have tromped all over London as well as the US and almost every day I've worked since buying them in 2006. They are starting to look really worn out so I plan to replace them sometime this year. They are the standard-bearer for chefs and nurses for a reason!

Thanks! The earlier posts about walking in them and ankle twisting are a bit concerning since my ankles seem a bit weak sometimes. Knowing you used them for tromping all over London is helpful. I feel I'll be spending more time standing and looking at stuff than hard core walking, but am not likely to change shoes between walking to a museum and then standing around and looking. ;)

Must refrain from looking at frivolous pretty shoes on 6pm.com though...
