5→4 [crack→animal features] fairlyadvanced July 31 2011, 22:44:04 UTC
[He had fluffy ears and an even fluffier tail sprouting out his backside. He felt entirely ridiculous and just a little bit embarrassed--make that a lot a bit embarrassed when he caught sight of his older counterpart. But if anyone could fix this spell gone wrong then it was the other Loki.

He slunk up to the other with his fox ears laid flat and the most endearing puppy eyes he could manage.] Ummm... Help?

[Loki turns to see his younger self - and his new appendages. He does not hide his laugh.]

Well, well. That spell went awry, didn't it?

[His ears couldn't get any flatter against his head at that laughter. He hung his head.] ...Yes. Are you going to help me or not?

I help no one but myself. Come here, let me see the damage.

[Well, that actually brought a small smile to his lips. He plodded closer, and tried to keep his tail from twitching, revealing his happiness.]

[He kneels slightly to examine the ears. He pinches the skin gently and then stands again.]

Were you trying to duplicate the fire spell?

[He winches slightly from the pinch but doesn't move away. With a huff, he shakes his head.] No! That's not anything like this!

[...not to say that it wasn't related or anything. But his older self didn't need to know that.]

[He smirks.]

Of course. You are smarter than that.

[A glowing stream of energy is appearing between his hands, but he still talks, casually, rather than concentrating on the spell. He hardly needs concentration on a spell like this.]

What were you trying to do?

[Lying about the type of spell is probably not a good idea. Hn.]

...A summoning.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

How did you manage this with a summoning spell? Did you try to summon specific body parts first?

[A coil of green energy leaves the older Loki's hands and snakes around the younger Loki's new ears.]

This will sting.

...No.

[He makes a face up at the older god but its interrupted by a wince and a soft "ow." On the plus side, it seems to work. Little Loki shakes his head vigorous for a second before the feeling settles and he reaches up to pat his head.]

No. I didn't think I had even managed to summon anything. But maybe I did and didn't realize it. Maybe it, uh, did this to me.

What were you trying to summon?

[Now it's time for the tail. The magic thread coils around it, tightening.]

[...He almost yelps but manages to swallow it down. He not-so-discreetly looks to see the tail has disappeared, too. He sighs with relief but his elder counterpart had asked him a question and he glances back up reluctantly.]

Well, I think it's called a 'djinn' where they're from. [He shrugs and looks away. Either he's still got a long way to go with the whole silver-tongue/lying thing or talking to his elder self is very intimidating. Or both.]

[He snorts.]

Don't try to summon a djinn like you would summon any other creature. Try offering them horns of mead with the summoning runes carved on them. They're less likely to get upset.

Now, is anything else transformed? If you are in pain, something inside of your body my have been transformed as well.

[He nodded in understanding.] Are they always that nasty?

[The young god checked around, thought about it, but in the end nothing was hurting and nothing felt weird or anything so he decided the obvious outer features had been all of it.] I don't think so. I feel fine now.

...thanks.

Any creature summoned from his home by a foolish young magician is bound to become annoyed. You would cast a nasty spell, too, if you were in that djinn's position.
