Happy Slapsgiving...I mean Thanksgiving!

Well there's a whole load of shit to do today.  My super duper wonderful awesome boyfriend wylddevil  is here from merry olde England still asleep in the other room.  I have to make two pies, one to take to make dad's and one to mom's.  Way to go divorce!  Twice the work.  For my mom is Chuck's Pear Pie with Gruyere Crust and a Dutch Apple for my dad.  For

I was supposed to make a buttermilk pecan pie and my husband makes this incredible drunken cake with either sherry or brandy or port, whatever is clever. It is a bundt cake so will fill the center with raspberries and raspberry wine from trader joe's.

Us being sick, I think ThanksGiving is going to look pretty dismal.

Oh, it is good. Last year we found this vanilla brandy that when you drank it straight it tasted like a caramel apple. In the cake it is fantastic. I love how I got all these cute pink appliances to match my kitchen, and a few basic (repro) Jadite pieces, and the husband is the one using all the gadgets. I seriously do not know how to run the pink kitchenaid mixer, and I consider that the holy grail of our gifts
