I don't know how I feel about this. Of course all outlines are still subject to change, and I still don't have to stick to them, but now I spend a lot more time thinking about structure. I think this new attention to structure is probably a good thing (I outlined Futile Winged Things for structure), but it still feels weird.

I always say I have a house ( the outline of the plot ), but whatever goes on inside the house is much more fluid. I don't really outline it except in my head, and it appears like a basic edifice, some rooms, and the decorating needs to be done.

Not a bad way of putting it. ;-)

I've taken to outlining the structure of the narrative: first scene third person, second scene first person character A's POV, third scene first person character B's POV, fourth scene third person. What's actually happening in all these scenes is the fluid part.
