Alex was upset, and while that is not an excuse, it's an explanation. And she really does wonder about her brother sometimes. Her papa never acted this way.

(As for your other question, I think Alex spent a lot more time with various Weasley cousins than her siblings)

Claire is hex happy, and that's definitely something she got from her mother.

And she does have Weasley traits. They just don't materialize as obviously as they do in her sister. I know a few things about her that would probably surprise everyone.
