Adam and company were in New Orleans for their show. They had all been looking forward to this stop. Unfortunately, they weren’t going to have a lot of time in the city. Adam thought that maybe he’d bring them all back when the tour was over for a little vacation.
Adam spotted the lady as soon as she walked into the room for the meet and greet. There wasn’t really anything too crazy about her to make her stand out; especially among his fans, but for some reason he was drawn to her. She was older, probably in her forties or fifties. She was wearing a long skirt, a white peasant top, and a scarf on her head. She looked like the movie version of a fortune teller, Adam thought. He tried to discreetly point her out to Tommy and the others.
When she made her way to the front of the line, Adam smiled at her brightly as he prepared to sign an autograph for her.
“My name is Madame Sabine.” The lady declared as she laid a business card down on the table.
Adam took the card and looked at it. Sure enough, she was a fortune teller/tarot card reader/palm reader/psychic. It wasn’t that Adam didn’t believe in this type of thing, but he just got a crazy vibe from her.
“Can I sign something for you?” Adam asked politely.
“No. That’s not why I’m here. I had a vision of you and this man.” Madame Sabine gestured toward Tommy.
Adam and Tommy looked at each other and then at her. Tommy was shocked that he had been brought into the conversation. Adam just looked amused.
“A vision of what exactly?” Adam inquired deciding to play along.
“The vision itself isn’t important. I’m just here to tell you that you two belong together. You’re meant to be together.” She told them with a smile.
“Okay, well thanks for that. Are you sure that I can’t sign anything for you?” Adam asked trying to move the lady along. She was the last person in the room.
Madame Sabine only smiled at the two men and walked away. When she was gone, Adam giggled a little. He looked at Tommy who didn’t seem to be sharing his amusement at the situation.
“What’s wrong, Tommy Joe? Did that lady get to you?” Adam asked as he put his arm around the shorter man’s shoulders.
“No. I just thought that you’d take it more seriously. I mean you are into this kind of stuff.” Tommy stated.
“She seemed like a sweet lady, but I just think she’s probably some fan who thought if she told us that she had a vision of us together, we’d suddenly realize that we’re madly in love or something. I guess she didn’t get the memo that you’re straight.” Adam explained as he threw Madame Sabine’s card in the trash.
“If she was a fan, then why didn’t she want an autograph?” Tommy asked.
“Who knows? Just forget about her.” Adam spoke as he left Tommy to catch up with the others. He wanted to tell them all about Madame Sabine.
Tommy hung back. Normally, he didn’t believe in psychics and fortune tellers, but something was making him believe Madame Sabine. What if she was right? Tommy figured that she was just a crazy fan, but he wanted to believe her because he did have feelings for Adam. Even though he was “straight”, he felt like there was more with Adam than just friendship. He hadn’t admitted it to anyone else yet. He’d barely even admitted it to himself, but maybe Madame Sabine really had seen a vision of the future. Was it possible that she had seen a future where Tommy had finally gotten his head out of his ass and admitted to his feelings?
Tommy put the thoughts out of his head and hurried to catch up with everyone else. Adam was still telling them about the fortune teller. Everyone was laughing. Tommy tried to join in, but still found it hard to find amusement in the situation.
