The AP Japanese test was pretty hilarious. Pretty fucking hilarious.

I know that if I were a couple steps more advanced, I would've done considerably better. That is to say, I can envision a future in which this test would seem fairly simple to me. At this point though, I bombed that shit like Iraq. Or a Nazi sub. Or Hiroshima! Yay U.S. foreign ( Read more... )

baby cakes, you, fumiko, and i have all hit that plateau. to be honest, college japanese is just structured hs japanese. what we NEED is to just go to japan. you can take all the advanced classes you want, but do you think you'll feel like you're climbing again?

I have decided I despise the Japanese language. After one semester of college Italian (admittedly plus the fact that I lived in Italy in 1998) I can already basically get around in Italy, have conversations in Italian, and write essays in Italian. I have been taking Japanese for what, 9 years with a tutor, and every time I use the language it is clumsy and riddled with errors, and all those 9 years have gotten me is the equivalent of one year of college Japanese proficiency, which apparently is far less than the proficiency level reached after one semester of Italian. I think my favorite moment was when I asked how to set up a simple conditional clause in Italian and the instructor told me that you just put the word "se" at the beginning, which means "if." Japanese makes very little sense, and is way too complicated. Plus, it just annoys me that even if we become absolutely fluent speakers (nearly impossible in Japanese) then we still will always be the stupid gaijin.

I'm just so in the middle about Park-sensei.

On one hand she is a total TILF.

Actually there is no other.
