First day back at work this year with no Lachie to drop me at the station. Right on cue it rains. Watching a terrific old film on GEM (which I am starting to love on weekends for the crappy old films they show) I was watching a tension filled car chase on the French Riviera when a chicken ran out in front of one of the cars. Quick as a flash I called out:

"Look out for the Light Sussex!"

I think my life has changed.

When I was at secondary school in Year 10 we studied Australian Literature for a time and read the classic Wake In Fright written by Kenneth Cook. The book had a profound effect on me but was nothing compared to the school excursion we took to the pictures to see the film of the novel. The impact was immediate and the memory life long.
