You have made me exceedingly hungry, and now craving french onion soup! There's a cute little French bistro near where I live which does a good one (and unsurprisingly, it was not suitable for my vegetarian sister-in-law given the beef stock!) but I don't think it is half as divine as yours sounds.

I love that you went the Julia Childs route.

Thank you so much! It's good to have a French bistro near for an occasion when you need it faster than you can cook it :)
I've got one little French wine bar here too and though their soup is not as good as home made it still works!
