When it comes to debating over Capital punishment I am against capital punishment.

But, this makes me really feel that why would anyone would wish for a capitol punishment for the offender. :(

Couldn't we just give everyone IQ tests and eradicate everyone below a certain score?

There isn't a metric to define Intelligence.

I did mention "in theory" there... I guess it answers it all.

Also, we need not-so-smart ppl like me to maintain the equilibrium. Its the way of nature, there is night, because there is day and vice versa.

And, please I have to cook lunch, so if it is a trivially obvious question which u derived from the local context of this comment...i can't answer it. :D

IMO, a punishment serves two purposes: give the most extreme punishment to the offender, and deter the society from commiting crime again. We know that hundereds and thousands of people are serving life-terms in prisons for every conceivable type of crime. But do they ever catch public attention?? Does the public ever know what these people are going through in prison? No.

Man's ultimate fear is death (atleast to the majority I'm sure) and capitol punishment capitalises on that fear. And in societies like India where crime is rampant and the police doesn't do its job of bringing enough people to justice and curbing crime, almost every case that reaches a conclusion is a "rarest of rare cases". And cases that involve ruthless crime deserve ruthless punishment to create fear in the mind of possible criminals.
