The fine line between squick and kink shaming.

It is okay to have squicks.  It is okay to acknowledge that there are things out there in this great wide world that turn you off, gross you out, or even cause you to have an intense, visceral reaction.  It's okay.

It's okay to tell somebody, "Sorry, that's not really my thing," or "Honestly?  This squicks me, but I won't get down on you for liking ( Read more... )

I agree with all of this! I've seen lots of kink-shaming disguised as compliments (as in "I can't believe how hot this is because it should be gross, so wow you must be really good") and LOTS of self-shaming ("I can't believe I wrote this, LOL, so cracktastic, I don't even know, you guys.") And also people starting new journals just to be EVEN MORE anonymous ( ... )
