That will stop people being couch potato games players! Imagine playing Zelda where you have to wave the controller around instead of learning millions of button combos!
Nintendo have obviously decided the only way they are going to be able to compete is by thinking outside of the box and going for the atypical gamer market.
Nintendo make the most socialable consoles. They have always been strongest for multiplayer and their best games are designed to be played with friends.
I'm fairly sure that the Nintendo design team have something special in the water cooler...
Shaky cam video of the big N's promo reel. It seems to imply when you play classic Mario Bros. to make Mario jump, you move the controller up. I like that. Not sure about playing the entirety of Zelda by hacking and slashing at things because a) I don't think I'm very good at actual swordplay[1] and b) RSI!
Aside: Goldeneye is one of the Great FPS' of all time. FACT.
Part of that will be down to the controller design. I haven't played it enough to get the hang of it - but the trigger mechanism is very logical for a FPS.
Timesplitters 2 is rather fab too - FPS *can* be done well on a console, just not very often it seems...
Hopefully, Nintendo will go all out on demo units in shops before it comes out or something.
Well - they had loads of demonstrators of the bongos and the DS - I see no reason for them not to do the same with the Revo.

I assumed it was because all those sad & lonely gamer types have one hand already permanently occupied.

[1] Yes, Tim/Su, you may make a joke now.

We may actually get a FPS on a console that is actually good!
