It is, according to Peter Viney, a historian of the group, “the Big Pink track that has appeared on most subsequent live albums and compilations,” second only to The Weight. The vast majority of the songs of The Band were improvised by Levon and then finalized by Robbie who then took all the credit. This ended up being the subject of multiple lawsuits when Levon couldn't afford cancer surgery because of Robbie getting all the royalties and Levon getting completely fucked over.

is that maybe why he started his own band? his voice was pure country..

he reminds me of woody guthrie, right down the the suffering later in life..
