RE: Re: 2000 tabs in firefoxmusiuuuFebruary 8 2020, 03:21:35 UTC
Vivaldi is just a random browser I adopted to browse and load tabs from Livejournal; I don't do much with it and I don't load many tabs (90 max) as in Firefox. When the tabs get too cluttered I just save them to the OneTab addon (also available on Firefox).
Not sure what is Vivaldi Dynamic Preview - is that a preview thumbnail of the Tab when I hover the arrow over it (that's certainly useful), or is it the window panel with a text list of the loaded tabs? Gotta explore it a little better. N.B.B. Every so often the PC asks me for permission for Vivaldi to run/install something - Deny! Deny! Deny!
For general info, Firefox also has its own VPN addon; have it installed but haven't used either due to temporary self-imposed suspension of my nefarious ways. https://fpn.firefox.com/

Also, "in November 2016, the original Norwegian owner of Opera sold his stake in the business to a Chinese consortium under the name Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I Limited Partnership".

i tried vivaldi but it doesn't seem to have a proper ad block, it does somewhat, but not all. it also felt less robust than opera which has a lot of personal settings that can shut off unwanted memory laden features like background images, etc
so i'm back on opera and it is slow loading pages, because i think i chose the vpn option, so now i have to find where to shut that off. but the ad block is excellent on it.
i don't think there seems to be one simple answer. 6 of one half dozen of another... they are either tracking you or blocking you or you are blocking them. take your pick ; P

hey, when i tried to install brave, my puter told me it can't (won't) verify the source of the app, only apple store qualified crap, so it would install. do you know of a setting to allow brave to work on mac or should i be concerned that brave is not a safe browser? ; O
Re: more techyummusiuuuFebruary 9 2020, 00:12:50 UTC
Sorry, am not Mac familiar only PCs. But I'll check to see if you can override to let it install.
Normally, I would defer to Apple, or MS as the case might be, but I think they just didn't get their commission. Based on my limited experience and knowledge, it's safe; it works alright on Windows 10, and I've run anti-virus and malware scans since installation without any alerts or warnings. It might be just very clever.
P.S. If you're looking for more browsers don't install Opera Neon - it stops working and can't get uninstalled despite using built-in uninstaller and 3 other popular uninstallers. 😞
Then www.opera.com for Facebook;
Then www.vivaldi.com for Livejournal;
And recently there's www.brave.com which uses the Qwant search engine from France "...le moteur de recherche qui respecte votre vie privée."

thank you for this. i thought i was running out of options..
why doe you like vivaldi for LJ?
it looks complicated
brave looks simple and straight forward and uses tor
