Bloodstained Arms, Surgical Grapes and Other Such Stories

Jul 18, 2008 13:43

On Sunday I returned from my trip to Nottingham for Medsim. The course is basically a medical simulation to teach aspiring young doctors (and me) what it's like to be a medical student and why we shouldn't do it.

Words of Wisdom: somebody said that most of the time when we think we have no idea what we're going to decide, we have really already decided. I don't know if that's true or not, but it doesn't sound as if there are any wrong or bad choices here. It's great to have such good options. Good luck!

^_^

Ro said that everybody would be very diplomatic and just tell me to do what I think is best. Looks like she was right.

Seriously, though, you're probably right, I just need to work out what my own mind is saying to me.

I keep having weird dreams since I've been puzzling over this... maybe my subconscious knows?

I didn't know what I was going to do, so I took a year out and thought about it and it worked out good, I know what I would like to do, so I suggest if your really unsure and are not ready to commit to one, take a gap year

Not from personal experience or anything, but I say take a gap year! It sounds fun to be able to take a year off to travel or try new things or get experience in whatever you want to study :) I wish people did that in the US.

Also, is it okay that I friended you?

Lol, yes, that's fine. Didn't I friend you first? (I friended you about half an hour ago)

I was trying to send you a message, actually.. Do you think you could make me a couple of icons? Em's recommended you to me. ^_^

I think I might go for the gap year, now. *is excited*.

Ah. So you did. I always feel the need to ask anyway :P

And sure! Just let me know what you want, and I'll see what I can do. If it's easier (or if you want me to use a specific picture or something) you can email me at avian_xj@yahoo.com

Still trying not to sway you! I don't know much about the difference between Medicine and Natural Sciences, but I can give you information about gap years. On the plus side, it would give you more time to decide, a stronger to position to apply from, (since you'll already have your A level grades, unis won't have to rely on predicted grades from your teachers), and the chance to earn some money and travel a bit, and maybe get some relevent work experience to boost your CV ( ... )

I think I might do Natural Sciences and have a gap year but apply for deferred entry now. Was denkst du?

I'm going to enquire around if it's possible to get a few months job in a lab.

Of course, i couldn't start for a while if we went to North America next summer. ^_^
