I don't really know what I've been doing, just a lot of things, and I was kind of ill the last few weeks, sleeping about 14 hours a night.

I did run a 5k race at the beginning of October.  I have no idea how or why, but I came 314th!  Out of the women!  My flatemate did well, coming first in his age category.  He says he's never run long distance ( Read more... )

You kind of lost me on missing Fahrenheit. I don't know anybody who doesn't routinely use Fahrenheit rather than Celsius.

As far as the duvet goes - not sure exactly the specifications you want, but have you tried Bed Bath & Beyond? They have down comforters that ought to work, unless those are the "silly coverlet thing" to which you're referring.

Think of "Hey, how you doin'?" as "How do you do?" and respond accordingly. Or just say "Great," or "Fine."

And I'm up in Clarksville, so not too far from you. We could always meet in Nashville! :)

Oops, I meant that I miss Celsius andhaving translate it into Farenheit confuses me all the time! Luckily working in a lab means most of the people there, at least, know how it works. :D ( ... )

Hello PR! Your octopus costume is so good! How long did it take to make? Vegas and the Grand Canyon just sound absolutely awesome.

I would definitely definitely like to meet up over Christmas! I keep beginning to ask people what their plans are like and then not making an actual post... Christmas being at the weekend is kinda weird and confusing to me, but maybe you would like to do something (ice skating!) on the 27th, 28th or 29th of December? Or we could try to do something before Christmas, but that might be a little tight and you'll probably be jetlagged and busy *cough* napping XD

I saw the trailer for the film version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it looks pretty awesome - should I rush out and read it?

I miss Nando's and there are two a bus ride away from here. I should find an excuse to go to Nando's. Mmm chicken.

It took me six weeks to make it! So much work! This is why we were sad when we didn't win Best Costumes, because the people that won (the Mario Brothers, if you looked at the photos on the St Jue website) just bought or rented their costumes. Which means they looked really good, but anybody can just go and spend money! We spent time and effortWhy is Christmas at the weekend confusing to you? We have a Christmas weekend almost every year! It's only if Christmas is a Tuesday or Wednesday that we don't. We've only had one Christmas non-weekend since 2003 ( ... )

Actually I think it snows quite a lot at the Grand Canyon. Northern Arizona is high in elevation and quite cold in winter. I've hiked into the canyon twice, and hiked out in snow both times -- once in just a little, the other time in 18 inches (slog slog slog). That was in October.

Glad you're having fun!

Huh, maybe the pilot just wanted us to think we were special?

Did you hike along inside the canyon or along the rim? Up or downstream? Either way that sounds pretty cool.

We hiked down to the bottom, both times, and stayed at the little cabins they have down below, and hiked back out the next day. It is really cool because you go through so many different shifts of season and vegetation (for instance, when there was 18 inches of snow further up, it was summer-like at the bottom).

(Deleted and reposted to fix HTML.)

That really does sound like a frighteningly brief driving test - I'd heard that the UK's is much stricter than most countries', and America's is a bit lax, but still.

I spent last week dissecting livers and spleens, which ended up with me dreaming about them one night. It's so weird when that happens. I remember when I was on a field trip collecting data for my A2 Biology coursework, and had to identify invertebrates in water samples all day; when I went to bed, they were all I could see when I shut my eyes. Not being in the same time zone as friends and family is hard. It's great that you got to see Tim, though.
