By nature Charlotte Charles was both highly observant rather than highly sensitive, prone to waking with starts and being ready for anything. This, she had come to learn through the years, was due in large part from careful training and preparation by her father even though she had never really know what it had been for.
Shifting slightly, she rolled over, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand only to realise as soon as her hand came into contact with her face that this was not her hand. It was in fact her hand as it was attached to her body, only it was not the hand and body she had gone to bed with but rather much bigger and much more..."Stubbly?" she asked outloud when she had meant to reply to the question. "I mean, Ned? What happened, did something happen? Are you..."
She opened her eyes with a start and sat up taking the whole picture in. "Oh dear."
Ned let out a shocked, questioning noise and sat up. This provided him with a better - for lack of a better word - view of the Chuck who wasn't but was Chuck. There wasn't anything about making the dead come to life that dealt with something like this.
Digby whined in the corner, as if speaking up, and Ned stared. "You too?"
Upon seeing Digby who was also in the same strange predicament, Charlotte Charles who was now for lack of a better way to put it was closer to being a Charles Charles the second, laughed slightly.
It sounded strange and far away to her ears. "Oh this is just strange. I wonder why it was me and not you. Every other?"
Ned was not wondering why he hadn't been spared - though he could appreciate that small seed of thanks in a garden of doubt - but why, in fact, Chuck had now become Charles.
He shook his head, still caught up in the whys and the hows and the oh god, Chuck?s.
