Advice please?

Let's take a survey shall we...? For class we have to pick any piece that we've read for class (the stipulation that is that it must be on the syllabus), analyze it, spend time with it, love it, and interpret it, then find a "scholarly critical article" about it and read that, and then write a "5-8?" page paper on our response to the critical ( Read more... )

I think paradise lost and dante's would be amazing, but yes very hard. The cannonization is a great poem indeed....but i think the katherine phillips sounds interesting. just cus i dont know about it. So i vote that :)

In class, Erik and I were talking about how we wanted John Donne to bang us against a wall. We both love The Flea, so out of pure writer-lust I'd say that. But Katherine Phillips is also a pretty stellar person. I'd steer clear of the Paradise Lost (I hate Milton and the Biblical stuff is way too intense for less than a week of research :) )

I think you should do Donne...it's good that there's not a lot of critical work on your topics. It will make your ideas look more original.
