Weirdly, after this episode aired, half my flist admitted to a clown phobia with at least one person saying they would not be watching due to the magnitude of said clown phobia. I had no idea clown phobia was so common.

it's the fact they dare to wear the mask out the outside, instead of normal society and their whole invisable mask thing, that and anyone who has to disguise their identity while around children just sets off warning bells.. and the smile, or even worse the frown, i mean who the hell goes to all the trouble to put on clown makeup, and paints on a frown, in some transparent attempt to elict pity and compell us to take them under our wing.. all the better to shiv us aahhh buggrit

I think you hit the nail on the head. All the doctors, even now, think it has something to do with my "development" years - my mother is a huge Stephen King fan, not to mention Tim Curry, so these things seem to align. :) But it's not something I can talk about freely, because to be honest? It seems like there must be another trigger other than my mother's reading and film habits.

BUT YOU MAKE A LOT OF SENSE, oh drive-by commenter! ;)

Strangely, it is. I had a lot of doctors clucking and tsking over me, because even now, it's so violent. Recently, there were a bunch of them wandering all over Central station for the Ekka proceedings, and one advanced on me, causing me to start screaming and hyperventillating, etc. For a 23 year old girl? Not cool. So I think I'll be giving this ep a miss, bar the angsty bits that Liz will line up for me.

It's embarrassing. It's affected a lot of my life, to be honest. But it's nice to know there are others who share my pain. I WANT TO SEE JO, DAMMIT!!
