So, on Sunday there were very bad riots in the the Xinjiang province. As a result most social networking sites are blocked. I don't really understand that. I feel for the lives that were lost as a result of the riots but I don't understand the governments ideology of blocking things when it comes to situations like this...especially when it's so

I don't know if this is something they've always done or not, but it may have been influenced by the recent goings on in Iran. People were very active and basically using Twitter, Facebook and any other form of social networking sites they could to get news out and it brought even more attention to the situation than there would have been.
