There's very few films that have hit me on such an emotional level like Tomas Alfredson's 2008 film, Let the Right One In (Based on the equally beautiful novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist). Simply put, it's a masterpiece. A quiet masterpiece. Yes, I'm a lover of both the horror and vampire genre so it was a given I would warm to this movie, but the film really is in a league of its own. Not only is the cinematography and score by Johan Soderqvist exquisite, but the film packs such an emotional punch it's hard not to be affected by it. Yes, it is a vampire film of sorts but what really hit me was the notion of trying to fit in, and finding someone to share companionship and friendship with.
