I've started reading my Livejournal from the start, warts and all. Every day I read a few posts, get through a few months. Sometimes I do an entire year. There were so many comments back then under most posts - I skim through them (most of them were just chattering that happened on LJ as if it were instant messaging. Coincidentally I was reading some old posts yesterday from when I first came to Brazil. I was definitely cringing, but also vaguely sympathetic with myself. I don't tend to read many of the old posts, but equally I would be very sad to lose them. One day maybe...

I love cringing at my former self (thank you LJ for making that so possible) but only because I have reframed it as a way to monitor personal growth? Like- ah, yes, I am no longer as awful as I was at 25!

When i first joined twitter, it was like the early LJ days with quizzes and memes and quite a lot of the same folk....then normal people discovered it :-(

You're very brave reading back! I don't often go really far back but I did recently, as I wanted to find something very specific. I was astounded by the detail I put in. Go past me! I was very grateful for it. And yes, it really is amazing what we forget.
