I have to say, I have often used "We Built This City" as my example of the worst song ever.

Well, that may require my listening to it again and I am not sure I want to put myself through that even for science! ;)

I will append the condition that it is an example of the worst popular song ever. . . I am sure there are less widely known songs that are worse (perhaps the song you mentioned that I am unfamilar with).

Even horrible popular songs like "La Macarena" led to lots of otherwise rhythmically-challenged folks have fun dancing at weddings.

oh. no. the electric slide and macarena are just horrible and rhythmically challenged people should practice at home, not when i'm fixin' to get my drink on.

Earlier this year there was an LJ discussion of how bad Billy Joel is from ludickid, and while I didn't fully agree, Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" was, I think, the worst pop song from 1988-1998.
