Going to the hospital is the correct choice for vomiting that will not stop, because dehydration.

(incidentally, I usually do candied ginger + lukewarm mint tea and lying down for nausea. Or lying with my plain dry toast and chest elevated. Generalized GI upset at the front and back ends gets the plain rice/bananas/plain toast/applesauce if I have it diet, plus gatorade cut half with water, because electrolytestes. The Gatorade test is how I've been telling whether or not I'mactually ill: if it tastes amaze, I clearly require the contents and am I'll. If it tastes noxious, not so dehydrated or ill.

I actually wasn't thinking dehydration when it was happening, I was thinking more along the lines of "this is getting really BLEEGHHHH disgusting and also irritating and it's probably not BLEEEGHHHH healthy so I guess I should go to the BLEEEGHHH hospital and hope they don't give me any IVs."

(Which of course they did, but at that point I just wasn't caring anymore.)

I've got a Korean "honey ginger tea" (which, of course, means no actual honey or tea involved, just lots of sugar and ginger in a goo form that dissolves in water) which I just broke out today. Took your advice on the gatorade this AM, and I can't say whether it helped or not, jsut that it was such a relief to finally be drinking somethign that wasn't water. Been eating (drinking?) a hungarian soup I made, made up of flour, oil, salt, caraway seeds, and water - this is generally had after throw-ups in HU, and it's certainly been good for my stomach here. Also, I made applesomething this evening (not sure it sauce or what) and it has restored my energy and mood ( ... )

Epic Yuck. Glad to hear you are okay!

Going to the hospital was a good idea. (Also, how do you not have Pepto-Bismol in your apt? Alka-Seltzer does not treat gastrointestinal upsets.)

How are you feeling now? Has it resided? Do you think it was something you ate, or just a 24h bug?

ikr   mee tooo, it was no fun.

Yes. (and I do, but that doesn't help after the fact. And it's helped before!)

I am feeling much improved, due to having jsut eaten some apple-something (can't call it sauce because it's not squishy enough) and, for the first time in days, gotten something other than small carbs and water into my system ;p I do think it was somethign I ate (since isn't that how these things go?) but it would be almost impossible to trace back, and I'm in no mood to experiment around.

WOWOW OKAY, well, I guess this answers the question I posed in your latest post? I'm glad you went to the hospital (it sounds like an adventure?) and I second boosette's candied ginger idea. Because candied ginger.

Also, there were a lot of synonyms for "vomiting" in this post. A++.

Heh, yes. Yeah, it was an adventure, but going to Chinese hospitals is almost always an adventure, I figure. And yes, ginger tea :)

:DDD I got the idea from books I read about fifteen years ago (oh god really that long) called the Time Warp Trio books. They were those kinds of books :D
