YAY, FRINGE LOVE! Everything you said = THIS! Walter is by far my favorite too, though I love everyone. I care little about the romance, though I think I'll care more once they develop. It just has such a great plot/mythology. This show is lots of fun.
Isn't it a cool show? I love it so much. And yeah: I know that eventually the romance will come, but I really don't worry about it. Though it'll be pretty shippery with Olivia on the other side, and Peter trying to get her back (after that kiss in the last episode? I'm pretty sure about it)
