Dammit! It looks like I've been bunnied again. And not a little one, either. Every since I finished M.A.R.Y.S.U.E. Must Die!, I've had another Maggie Lewis bunny nibbling at me

Yay! Writing an OC has really given me a lot more confidence to write original fiction as well. I may get back to the novel I've been thinking about for years after all....

Me too me too!
I admit one of the few kinds of fanfiction I really feel comfortable with are when people take the world and make their own setting, and their own plots within the context of overarching things, the main focus of the stories. And I like Maggie - she is a well rounded character with a lot of potential :) And archaeology is cool, not that I'm biased ;)
Although now I'm being a big dork and having potential conversations between a wizarding archaeologist and a non-arcaheologist going through my head about why you can't just get the same information from an artifact if you simply remove it magically from the ground without actually excavating it - context contex context! Stratigraphy is informative! Hee!

Just think of the tools that wizards could bring to bear though.
Divination would have a legiti, ate use for once, Psychometry for analysing otherwise un discernable fragments, scrying an area rather than having to use flaky geophysics images, 'stasis' fields to prevent artifacts from disintegrating and tea that makes itself so you don't have to stop working in order to make it.
I haven't read your other Maggie story(ies), but this plot bunny sounds fabulous!! I'll have to go read about Maggie now!! You have the job that I dreamed about having, but alas, I'm too old to ever get that far now! Indiana Jones was my idol. I have also seriously thought about going to a dig in Israel that our University sponsors & asks for non-trained people to come help out.
I have only (thus far) encountered Maggie through MARYSUE; I read that on your site, and then came here to see if I could find comments. Thanks to your tagging I've also found this post, and I must say I hope this story happens.
